1. If you were King or Queen for a day and could wave a magic wand, what policy change in Wisconsin would you enact?

Ensure every kid has supportive parents at home and the ability to read. Do that and I think we’d be amazed at the number of other problems that magically disappear.

2. Favorite supper club in Wisconsin?

Norwood Pines, no question. Everything on the menu is good, it’s in a beautiful spot, and I have many great memories of spending time in Minocqua, both as a child and adult.

3. Last book you read?

The last book I read was Leonardo da Vinci by Walter Isaacson. Although not my favorite of Isaacson’s (that’d be The Innovators), I learned a lot about da Vinci and it’s a great reminder of the incredible possibilities that come through persistence and a belief in things that don’t exist yet. My favorite recent read on that topic is The Wizard and the Prophet by Charles Mann. It contrasts the innovative, can-do approach of Midwesterner Norman Borlaug–who saved perhaps a billion lives–with the doom-and-gloom brand of environmentalism personified by William Vogt.
