1. What technology or trend are you most excited about for the future?
Education, specifically reading proficiency. The most recent National Assessment of Education Progress test for 4th graders in Wisconsin showed that approximately 60% of students scored below proficient. Students that read poorly will not be successful in other subject areas like math, science and social studies and will struggle in higher education and the workplace. Improving reading education is vital to Wisconsin’s future and we owe it to our kids to fix this problem.
2. What’s your favorite Wisconsin beer?
Leinenkugel’s Canoe Paddler.
3. What’s the best life hack you know and why?
I am currently reading American Lion, Andrew Jackson in the White House, by Jon Meacham. It is a good reminder that intense partisanship, disagreement over the proper role of government, and bitter debate over cultural and economic issues have been present in America since the founding.
