Wausau Schools recognized during Teachers Appreciation Week

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) – This week is Teacher Appreciation week, and the non-profit group Institute for Reforming Government (IRG) is applauding Wausau schools.

IRG is a non-profit dedicated to making the government better, ensuring kids have good schools to attend. They awarded Newman Catholic, Thomas Jefferson Elementary, and the Wausau School District for how their students are performing.

“Regardless of family background, where are the schools that are helping students grow the best? Wausau happens to have a bunch of them. We are talking about Stettin, we are talking about Grant, we are talking about Newman Catholic schools, and then Jefferson. Jefferson and Newman especially are two of the top schools in Wisconsin,” said Quinton Klabon, Senior Research Director for IRG.
