General Purpose Revenue tax collections for Wisconsin remain strong, reported by the Department of Revenue to be higher than last year through the first 11 months of the fiscal year. It’s encouraging that state tax cuts continue to drive a strong economy, but that the national economy (gas prices, inflation, etc.) hang like a Sword of Damocles over our working families and businesses. These numbers need to be watched closely to determine if and how much these national headwinds are impacting Wisconsin residents and tax revenues. Ultimately, it will be difficult to sustain growth when families are worried about paying for groceries and gas.
