Additional context from IRG’s Director of State Budget and Government Reform, Alex Ignatowski
What happened? The Joint Finance Committee (JFC) announced the dates of their biennial “Road Show”. Starting in April, the Committee will hold four listening sessions at various locations around the state.
Why is it important? The state’s biennial budget affects the lives of all Wisconsinites – from taxes, to education, to the general functions of state government. These listening sessions are an opportunity for anyone interested in the budget to engage with lawmakers and have their voices heard. These listening sessions mark the last part of the budget process before JFC starts making decisions on what will be (or not be) in the budget.
What’s next? The road show kicks off on April 5th:
- April 5th: Waukesha
- April 11th: Eau Claire
- April 12th: Wisconsin Dells
- April 26th: Minocqua
A complete list of dates, times, and locations can be found on the JFC budget website.
