The Institute for Reforming Government (IRG) has promoted Chris Reader to Chief Operating Officer. In this expanded role, Chris will manage the day-to-day operations of IRG, overseeing its team and project portfolio. Reader has also been named the Executive Director of IRG Action Fund, IRG’s 501(C)(4) advocacy partner.

BACKGROUND
- Chris Reader joined IRG in July 2021 as Executive Vice President.
- At IRG, he has helped grow the team from 2 full time employees to 8, expanding capabilities with the launch of the award-winning Center for Investigative Oversight in 2023 and groundbreaking Court Watch initiative this year to provide oversight and public education of the judicial branch of government in Wisconsin. Chris has also led major policy research initiatives focused on eliminating the state income tax, improving education outcomes, and advancing free-market reforms under divided government.
- Chris also oversees the implementation of major gifts, manages IRG’s employees and contractors, and leads on state policy research and government affairs efforts.
- He previously worked as Senior Director of Workforce and Employment Policy at Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), as a state agency division administrator and chief of staff in the state Legislature.
