IRG Applauds Bold Education Reform Legislation That Empower Parents

Madison, Wis. — The Institute for Reforming Government (IRG) applauded visionary K-12 education reform bills introduced by Republicans in the Legislature Wednesday, led by Sens. Alberta Darling, Roger Roth, and Reps. Jeremy Thiesfeldt, Bob Wittke, and Rick Gundrum. The legislation focuses on fixing schools and providing families more choices with a bold, unprecedented agenda of parental empowerment.

“These bills will put children and parents first and special interests and bureaucracy last. It is critical that we guarantee the right of all parents, regardless of income or zip code, to have a say in their child’s education, including which school to attend.  We also cannot forget about children stuck in schools and districts that are failing today and have been failing children for generations,” said C.J. Szafir, president of the Institute for Reforming Government. “These education reform bills will truly change our broken system and transform K-12 education so that every student is given an opportunity for a high quality education.”
